Describe your idea or roll for one, choose a style and placement, and get a detailed tattoo prompt for any AI image tool. Free, no sign-up, runs in your browser.
Stuck on a blank page? Random Words mode picks 2 to 5 words (subjects, a twist and a mood) and turns them into a complete prompt, not just a pair of nouns. Lock the words you like and re-roll the rest until the combination clicks. Every set comes from a hand-picked list of tattoo-friendly motifs, with no brands or copyrighted characters.
Random Tattoo Idea Generator
D20 mode rolls a whole tattoo idea at once: subject, style, placement, size and layout. Each roll has a seed, so you can share it and get exactly the same idea back. Roll a 20 and you get the most detailed version.

How to Write a Better Tattoo Prompt
1
Start with one clear subject
"A fox wrapped in ferns" beats a list of five ideas. Add a second element only if it relates to the first.
2
Name the tattoo style
Fine line, blackwork, neo-traditional and realism produce very different line weights and shading. Choosing one is the biggest single improvement.
3
Design for the placement
A forearm wants a tall shape, a wrist something small and simple, a back room for detail. Placement and size steer the composition.
4
Ask for negative space and a plain background
Tattoo concepts read best as clean artwork on white. Open space keeps fine details from blurring as the tattoo ages.
5
Keep text out of the image
AI images misspell words. Leave space for lettering and set the exact text in a real font.
